Two of my all-time favorite people are architects/designers/fabricators Zane Morgan and Cassandra Kellogg, aka Blackshop. We did not overlap at Rural Studio, but I knew their names from their projects, friends I made who knew them, and architects in Birmingham. I can’t remember exactly when we met, but I have been fans of their work ever since. And when they call me to photograph a project, I know it’s going to be great.
Case-in-point: these custom wine displays for La Fete, a French Bistro in Birmingham. Beautiful, considered, and well-executed. There’s just no substitute for exceptional design and fab. Words don’t do it justice, so here are some pictures.
Thanks to Cassandra and Zane for bringing me in on this project. La Fete and The Essential swapped places, so now it’s The Essential—which is one of our favorite spots in town. Next time you’re in BHM, let me know, and I’ll join you there for lunch.
